Street Light Optics and Light Distribution

Optics refers to the lens or reflector which purposefully shapes and directs the light based on the specifics of your project.

Optics distribution is broken down into five categories: Type I to Type V. Type I provides a narrow strip of lighting ideal for footpaths, where Type V refers to full circle lighting, often used for wide open spaces like carparks.

Which optic you use will be aligned with the space you wish to illuminate, and is contingent on pole height and spacing.

Do your LED street lights meet NZ Standards (AS/NZS 1158)?

Yes, our LED street lights are specifically designed to comply with AS/NZS 1158, the joint standard for lighting roads and public spaces in New Zealand and Australia. We specifically design our installs around the requirements for brightness, uniformity and glare control.

Can LED street lights be retrofitted onto existing poles?

In most cases, yes. Our LED street lights can be fitted to existing poles, avoiding the cost of a full pole replacement while still meeting current lighting standards.
